Biopsy results

Hi all,
I just talked to the Hep doctors office and they got my biopsy
results back today. The lady I talked to didn't know what this
meant, but she told me the following:
genotype 1b
alt 78 normal range 0-40
ast 47 normal range 0-47
stage 1 fibrosis
chronic hepC, mild activity, stage 2
I think this is good, but I don't know diddly. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone...I've been off line for awhile...but wanted to share my biopsy
    results...grade 1, stage 1...not too bad for having it 35 - 50 yrs...my doctor
says I don't have to do treatment if I don't want to since it seems to be such a
slow progression...so I am going to wait at least a year to see what new meds
are coming down the pike...he said there will be something to replace Ribovirin
in about a year...Pam said nothing to replace Interferon for about 5 yrs...so I
think I will wait and see if they can improve the odds for genotype 1b.
I won't bore you with the details of my biopsy...but it wasn't "a piece of cake"
he took 3 samples just to be sure he got enough tissue...felt like he punctured
my gallbladder...but I had no pain in the recovery room and no bruising on my
    rib cage.
    Take care...
