Re: what's SRV?
Hi Linda!
SRV = Sport Recreational Vehicle The Bigger Driveable not Trailered
Motor Homes VS SUV's = Sports Utility Vehicle the Smaller ones
like a Jeep Cheroke, etc. Then theres RAPUV's = Rediculously Priced
and Austentatious Utility Vehicle, like Cadillac Escalade or Lincoln
Navigator.
OR you said it could be SRC? Thats a 60's Rock & Psychedelic Band
Hee Hee!
OK Enuf Jokes Huh! :-)))) You really need to figure out what you
want to know, cuz there is nothing in HEP C Medical terms thats SRV,
or SRC, and nothing close that "You measure and keep track of..."
The closest initials are "SVR" but you dont measure anything there.
If thats the one youre after, it means "Sustained Viral Responder" In
order to get the SVR Title, you must be on Hep C Tx, and the Virus
must become "undetectable" at 6 months, and still undetectable at 1
year when you finish TX, and then STILL Undetectable at 6 months Post
TX. At that point you get the medical definition/title of SVR. To
keep it you must remain undetectable at all future Post TX Viral Load
Tests, which they usually do every 6 months or annualy after that. On
the new Peg & Riba some Drs. are actually calling that a "cure".
Thats still up for debate. Now some Genotype 2's and 3's only have to
be on TX for 6 to 9 months instead of 1 year like Geno 1's and
others, so in their case I dont know if they are actually SVRs at 6
months after their TX or they have to wait another 6 months to
actually get the SVR title. Since the proticol is 1 year of TX for
all Genos, they dont talk about when 2's & 3's become legal SVRs if
they finish TX successfully but early. If thats not what youre
after, let us know. Hope this is Helpful, you would have wondered
what these initials meant eventually too. BTW I am 1A, just did shot
#32 of Peg & Riba, 2 hours ago, 16 to GO!! And the Virus
was "undetectable" at 3 months and still at 6 months too! Being a 1A
I will be on TX for the full year.
Are you on TX? If so, or if you ever do start, I hope you become an
SVR for LIFE!!!! Marcus
Hi Linda, and Aloha to you too!!!!!!
So glad my info was helpful. Now were you referring to the Car Info
ot the Hep C info? Hee Hee! Did you ever figure out which term you
were actually trying to find out? Let me know if you do, I can tell
you or can usually send you somewhere to find it if its too long and
involved. On TX Ive had a lot of time to do plenty of research. Too
bad I cant get paid for it too! HAH!
You mentioned "Combo" so let me clear that up for you. I am on
Scheerings Peg-IntronA & Rebetol(Ribavirin Pills). It is the latest
of the greatest of TXs. It became publicly available last Fall. It is
not Pegasys. That is made by Roche and is still in Trials, and could
be for another 6mos to a year before publicly available if and when
the FDA does approve it. Basically Peg & Pegasys are almost the same.
They are both "Pegged" Interferons with similar dosing levels, and
the "Pegged" part is what allows you to only have to take 1 shot a
week, as the INF now stays in you system for the whole week and more
the longer you take it, and therefore you are killing the Virus 24/7.
The Old Combo youre referring to is called "Rebetron Combo". Its
where Scheering packages the older non-Peg INF and you take a daily
shot every other day for 3 days out of 7 each week, it also comes
with lower doses of the Ribivirin Pills (i.e. "Combo") It is still
given to some Geno 2's & 3's or those who need to get on TX right
away, since there is a Waiting list to get on Scheerings Peg & Riba.
And then when their number comes up they switch over to the newer Peg
& Riba because its so much more effective especially for Geno 1's who
are harder to kill the Virus, but the new Peg seems to be doing
greater with the 1's too now. Some people mistakenly refer to Peg &
Riba as the "COmbo" TX, but that is wrong, that strictly refers to
the 3 shots a week Combo. Unless of course they say theyre on the Peg
& Riba Combo, than we promise not to make fun of them any more and
let them have their Meds for their Sides back. HEE HEE!!!! I hope
that clears things up for you, as you asked me to.
Depending on your Biopsy results, later this month, would be a big
factor if you want to wait or should wait for the Pegasys Vs getting
on Scheerings Peg & Riba immediately. There have been some failures
already on Pegasys, just as there are on Peg. What Roche did was make
a slightly bigger molecule to get a patent, so it lasts in your body
a little longer, but that all equals out after a few weeks anyway.
They both have the same Interferon, so basically they are going to be
about the same, and Roche also uses Riba too, to enhance the effect
of the INF, though many are hoping that when Pegasys does become
legal, it will be a lot better than Scheerings version. At this point
the Drs. mostly disagree with that premise. They say it might be a
little better, and might not, but theyre basically the same. If you
need to be on TX and cant wait, there you go.
Ive been on Peg & Riba as I said for 32 weeks now, I'm a 1A, and
miraculously was "undetectable" at 12 weeks (which was normally
unheard of for Geno 1'A or B's) and still clear at 24 weeks! So Ive
got to consider myself pretty lucky and as far as I'm concerned
Scheerings Peg & Riba with weight-based dosing is what did the trick
for me. Let us know your test results as soon as you get them. Be
WELL and Heres to your SUCCESS!!! Marcus
